H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, one more worker celebrating International Labour Day

H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, as the first worker, joined with the working population attending the Eucharistic celebration, which was also attended by various members of the Government and the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE), together with the executive from the Ministry for Work and Social Security.

The reading of passages from Genesis, the First Letter of Saint Peter, and the Gospel of Saint Matthew were the basis for the homily by the vicar, who was accompanied by other priests.

Father Inocencio Moiche reminded those present of the huge irresponsibility of celebrating 1st May without looking back in history, in remembrance of those who came before and tried to create a fairer world and life.

The Ministry for Work and Social Security, companies in the public and private sectors, and believers in general expressed their gratitude through various offerings.

The President of the Republic was given a standing ovation at the doors to the cathedral, by employers and employees from various companies.

After the mass, the companies that are supporting the Government in the task of the construction and modernisation of the country organised various meetings in tourist establishments throughout the city, and held a requiem mass in honour of the workers who have died in the last 12 months.
