02.02.2018

These diplomats were the German Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, Elmar Jakobs, in his capacity as representative of the European Union; the Consul from Benin, Issa Araolai Tindjani, and the Head of Negotiations from the South African Embassy, Sekome Collen Mohuba.

The General Secretary of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea met the diplomats on 30th January in separate audiences, in order to strengthen cooperation in the education sector, specifically regarding the training of human resources.

During the meetings, the diplomats expressed the support and solidarity of their governments with the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and the Equatoguinean people, in connection with the destabilisation attempt of 24th December.

The Honorary Consul from Benin, Issa Araolai Tindjani, in his statement, said, “These are acts which we describe as terrorism, carried out by a group of murderers against the people of Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea, as part of Africa, has our support; it is an action we condemn, because today it is Equatorial Guinea and tomorrow it could be Benin; for that reason we have used this meeting to present this motion of support for President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo".

Osa Osa Ecoro, as National Coordinator of Grants, and the German diplomat, focussed their conversations on the strengthening of training for human resources, and recalled their interest in strengthening this area.

The local representative from the presidency of the European Union in Malabo also expressed the rejection and condemnation of the failed mercenary action in Equatorial Guinea.

“The European Union condemns the use of violent means for political ends, in all national and international situations, including any attempt to take power through force", said the ambassador Sekome Collen Mohuba, Charged with Negotiations at the South African Embassy, who was the last to meet the General Secretary.
