The meeting dealt with this single matter, and was attended by members of the conference organising structures. The importance of the event was underlined at the meeting, together with the measures to adopt in order to guarantee its success.

Obama Asue, in his speech, pointed out the achievements obtained by the country in the last decade, thanks to the implementation of the sixteen major programmes under the Horizonte 2020 Development Plan. In addition, he mentioned the challenges which remain to be met, and declared that in the Third National Economic Conference they will analyse and debate multiple options available for the realignment of the 2020 Agenda adopted in 2008, in order that the Government can address the multiple transformations that are currently taking place in the world in general, and in Equatorial Guinea in particular.

For his part, the Minister for Finance, the Economy and Planning, Lucas Abaga Nchama, indicated the importance of the preliminary sessions in order to guarantee the success of work before the conference, in order to adopt a fresh development strategy and continue progressing towards a more prosperous society.

The first will be of a technical nature, and will last a maximum of five days, covering the strategies to implement in each of the various sector blocks. The second, featuring political debates, will last approximately two days, and it is hoped that the document arising from the first event will be adopted.
