The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the treatment given to the Vice President by the Brazilian Government

Yesterday at the Foreign Ministry's headquarters in Malabo, the Foreign Minister of Equatorial Guinea Simeon Oyono Esono Angüe met with the Brazilian Ambassador, Evaldo Freire. The Foreign Minister voiced his government's dissatisfaction over the incident that occurred during the last visit of Vice-President Theodor Nguema Obiang Mange to the South American country.

This is about the detention and interrogation of persons arriving in Brazil together with the vice-president last Friday.
The minister and the ambassador exchanged views on the current state of diplomatic and bilateral relations between Malabo and Brasilia. Oyono Esono Angel emphasized the need for joint work on the development and strengthening of friendship and cooperation between peoples and governments which should not be darkened by separate incidents. This is all the more important because both Equatorial Guinea and Brazil are full members of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP).
