Vice-President received Russian delegation led by Evgeny Primakov

Malabo and Moscow reviewed the diplomatic ties and friendship uniting the two administrations, with a more specific backdrop, which was the aim to establish fluid cooperation between the two Chambers in Equatorial Guinea and the Duma. At the meeting, the Russian diplomat told the Vice-President of Equatorial Guinea about the Russia-Africa Forum which is to be held at the beginning of July, to which both the Senate and the national Parliaments are invited, as "the idea is to promote the development of parliamentarianism".

"I had an interview with President Obiang a year ago, when I was working as an adviser to the Parliament of the Duma. At that time, the Equatoguinean Head of State promised to strengthen relations between the two Governments and, despite not having a Russian Embassy in Equatorial Guinea yet, there are now various projects to execute between the two countries. I believe that the efforts by Malabo and Moscow have not been in vain; on the contrary, the work by Russian entrepreneurs and companies in the AITI department, on cybersecurity, have been very productive", said Evgeny Primakov, in an interview following the audience with the Vice-President.

"Now I am a member of Parliament and the Russian International Affairs Committee; above all we are working to establish friendly relations with the parliaments of other States. At this time I am the bearer of a letter that I passed on yesterday in the coastal city of Mbini to President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. It is an invitation sent by his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to attend a conference that is to take place in October in the city of Sochi. I have also come to Malabo with another invitation for the two Chambers in Equatorial Guinea for them to attend a forum that is to take place in July, and which will deal with promoting development between parliamentary groups. I hope that in these two meetings we see strong delegations from Equatorial Guinea", declared the Russian envoy.

The audience was attended by the Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and National Defence.

Russia-Equatorial Guinea cooperation has seen several positive advances, as reflected on the UN Security Council in questions of consolidation of the sovereignty of States, and in the Visa Exemption Agreement for holders of Diplomatic, Official and Service Passports, signed last year between the Government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and that of Russian Federation.
